I've always been interested in strange human interface devices, so I was pretty much bound to wind up here. After some pinky pain due to typing lecture notes while sitting in cramped seats, I decided to try to do something about it.
Here's my completely custom-built, designed and soldered keyboard made to fit my hands specifically. Portability was an important consideration, so I made it a 36-key keyboard which is both interesting and challenging.

The first keycap draft looks as below. The idea is to minimise vertical finger movement by shrinking the home row and thus reducing the distance required to clear it. The switches are also about as tight as you can space them vertically, 15.5mm. I think the idea holds, but the keycaps need to be made a bit more comfortable.
